Kayley's Village

I could not had been able to finish this quilt without a lot of help, love and advice from 3 wonderful ladies, Linda, Susan and Janice. Their love and support helped me through it. I wanted to call Uncle on this quilt and I got love support and a little shove.  Susan allowed me to quilt it on her long arm just days before Christmas and that was a journey within all of itself.

Kayley received the quilt on Christmas Eve 2012. She loved her quilt and still loves it.  I am blessed to have such a special little girl in my life.

Project 7. The Vine the final Block

This was the vine.  It was applique.  The only picture I could find of it was on my design wall.

The Journey Changes

The thing about taking a journey through life it changes. Mine changed September 3rd, 2013. The day I lost my husband Richard. He fought a good fight but I think his body could not take anymore. He is missed  by all of us but our lives have gone on. Through out the 2 years he has been gone we gained a new son in law, Josh and we became grandparents again to Jackson "jax".  I am truly blessed....

The journey will continue as I move on through life. Quilting is a still a huge part of my life. I hope you stay on the journey will me.    

Veranda project 6 Applique flower sampler block

I have to be honest I was really scared of this one when I first started this project... but, with the support of a good friend; Janice... I was able to overcome of my fear of applique.  This was all fusible and was very easy to do and went by quickly.  It's one of my favorite blocks... I may do more of these.. don't you think it would make a stunning quilt?? 

Veranda Project 5 dresden plate and flying geese

Wow... this was a first for me in so many ways.  This was my very first Dresden plate. The  directions for this was so simple. I hand applique this block and enjoyed every moment of it. Applique something I use to run from I am been drawn to more and more as of late.. and loving it. Yes it was on my things to learn this year and I learned so much and have so much more to learn. This block was started at retreat and finished it at home.  Now for the flying geese... I did two different sets of the long one... I finally figured it out and guess what... i survived it. In the past my flying geese use to fly away...these decided to stick around... I think they know they are going to help keep a special young lady warm soon !!

Veranda project 4 Snowball Block

I also finished this one at retreat.. I am starting to think I need to go to retreat every weekend. I felt really accomplished.  I cannot believe how incredibly easy this was to. I am thinking this would be a great block to do for an entire quilt for my grandsons.

This was an interesting block to do. It was all fusible so there was no curve piecing which I was afraid to do when I first saw the block. This block was done at retreat and I did the machine  applique when I got home.  It was really easy to do and very pleased with it.
